School Year COVID Plan
With a focus on the health and safety of children and staff, we are following official health guidelines to ensure our community is protected at all times during this pandemic. With more and more research supporting the idea that outdoor activities are safer, we are set up to operate 75% of our classes out-of-doors. We are on track to open all classes starting on August 17, 2020.
.
Our programming will continue with these new orders in mind:
-
All staff and students will be screened, evaluated, and monitored for illness. Worldmind staff will take students’ temperatures upon arrival. Please keep your child at home if they are sick or any person in the household is sick. Staff and students will be sent home if they are ill upon arrival; they will be excluded from class if they are experiencing the following symptoms:
-
Fever
-
Cough
-
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
-
Chills, body aches, sore throat, headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, runny nose
-
-
All staff will wear masks.
-
Students are required to have a mask. Falling in line with our ethos of taking care of ourselves, others, and the environment, teachers will work with students on appropriate times to wear their mask to keep themselves and others safe.
-
Handwashing guidance will be given to students, along with basic hygiene procedures like use of tissues, protecting coughs and sneezes, and proper tissue disposal.
-
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer will also be available for use.
-
Students will be encouraged to keep their hands away from their eyes, nose and mouth.
-
Staff will disinfect frequently touched surfaces using COVID-19 effective cleaners.
-
Physical distancing will be practiced whenever possible.
-
Programs will take place in small groups.
Worldmind’s philosophy is rooted in the robust evaluation of how each student learns best, and then taking that information and integrating the tools they need to help them grow and excel, both personally and academically. We also focus on social and emotional learning and prioritize students’ mental health and well-being.
In the event that we need to stop holding in-person classes, we are prepared to continue teaching without interruption. Our personalized approach to distance learning includes:
-
2:1 (two students, 1 teacher) time every day
-
1:1 (1 student, 1 teacher) time every day
-
Interactive instruction throughout the school day for math and literacy
-
Hands-on STEAM lessons in the form of kits that will be delivered to each home. Students will meet as a group with the teacher in the morning and go over all of the directions, then build on their own and come back together in the afternoon to share their creations.
-
Continued assignments for foreign language instruction inside the app that students are already accustomed to (This will supplement in-person teaching throughout the year.)
Whether in-person or through distance learning, we will provide the same authentic, empowering, nurturing, mindful, inclusive curriculum to your children. We are 100% committed to the needs of our families, and ask you to please reach out if you have any questions.
